- ABB reported record third-quarter orders of USD 12.055 billion, up 40 percent year over year.
- Data-center orders increased at a triple-digit rate, supporting demand for electrification equipment.
- Management expects low-teens comparable revenue growth and at least 270 basis points of reported Operational EBITA margin improvement in 2026.
ABB reported record third-quarter orders on October 20, with data-center demand driving growth across its electrification and industrial technology businesses. ABB stock traded at 77.00 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 14:35 CET on Friday, October 30, 2026, 1.23 percent below the 77.96 euros recorded in our October 30 report at 10:38 CET.
The company said in its Q3 2026 results that orders rose 40 percent year over year to USD 12.055 billion. Revenue increased 14 percent to USD 9.701 billion, while the 1.24 book-to-bill ratio showed that order intake exceeded quarterly revenue.
Data centers lead electrification demand
ABB said data-center orders grew at a triple-digit rate during the quarter. Two of its three business areas contributed strongly to the increase, and demand was positive across most customer segments.
Operational EBITA rose 24 percent to USD 2.026 billion, lifting the margin by 1.6 percentage points to 20.8 percent. Net income attributable to ABB declined 2 percent to USD 1.181 billion, as higher net finance expenses affected earnings per share.
Higher targets set for 2026
ABB expects fourth-quarter comparable revenue growth to remain broadly similar to the third quarter. The Operational EBITA margin is expected to soften sequentially, although less than the usual seasonal pattern. The outlook excludes a positive contribution of about CHF 240 million from completed property sales.
For full-year 2026, management expects a positive book-to-bill ratio, comparable revenue growth in the low-teens range and reported Operational EBITA margin improvement of at least 270 basis points year over year. The key investor question is whether strong orders convert into sustained revenue and margin progress.
For the real-time quote of ABB stock, investors should watch order conversion and execution in the coming quarters.
