- Acerinox lifted nine-month net profit to 162 million euros from 7 million euros a year earlier.
- Nine-month EBITDA rose 46 percent to 470 million euros, supported by North American Stainless.
- Management expects fourth-quarter EBITDA to fall below the third-quarter level because of seasonal weakness in the United States.
Acerinox reported a sharp improvement in profitability for the first nine months of 2026, while warning that seasonal effects will weigh on the final quarter. In a release dated Friday, October 30, the stainless steel producer said net profit reached 162 million euros between January and September, compared with 7 million euros in the same period of 2025.
The company's official nine-month results release said cumulative EBITDA increased 46 percent to 470 million euros. Revenue reached 4.556 billion euros, up 2 percent from the first nine months of 2025, indicating that the improvement in earnings was substantially stronger than the increase in sales.
United States drives quarterly performance
Third-quarter EBITDA came to 199 million euros, 13 percent above the second quarter. Acerinox attributed the progress largely to its U.S. position, with North American Stainless remaining the main contributor to group profitability.
Chief Executive Bernardo Velazquez said the third-quarter results showed the strength of Acerinox's strategy despite persistent demand weakness and a complex macroeconomic backdrop. The company said the U.S. market was more stable, while European demand continued to require caution. European imports fell 42 percent in the first nine months, helped by the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism and new trade measures, but the recovery in local consumption was slower than expected.
The High Performance Alloys division delivered a mixed picture. Demand was positive in aerospace and industrial gas turbines for power generation, while oil and gas and chemical processing remained weak. That combination leaves Acerinox dependent on regional mix and operational execution as it seeks to convert stable U.S. demand into sustained margins.
Seasonality limits fourth-quarter outlook
Acerinox expects activity in its stainless steel division to decline in the fourth quarter because of typical year-end seasonality in the United States. As a result, management expects fourth-quarter EBITDA to be lower than the 199 million euros achieved in the third quarter. The company did not publish a precise EBITDA range in the release.
Net financial debt stood at 1.5 billion euros at the end of the quarter, an increase of 174 million euros from the previous quarter. Acerinox linked the rise mainly to a 152 million euro increase in operating working capital and 77 million euros of dividend payments during the quarter. Management expects working capital to decline by year-end, which should reduce net debt.

For investors, the results strengthen the earnings case for Acerinox but also highlight the sensitivity of the business to regional demand, working capital and seasonal volumes. The U.S. contribution remains a key support, while subdued European consumption and higher net debt continue to limit the visibility of the next quarter.
