- First-nine-month value of new business increased despite a weaker third quarter.
- September new business value recovered strongly, while management expects to exceed its operating profit growth target.
- Edward Moncreiffe now oversees India, Sri Lanka, Australia and New Zealand.
AIA Group reported a mixed third quarter on October 30, while its regional leadership transition also moved into execution. The company said value of new business increased for the first nine months, despite a decline in the latest quarter.
At 15:31 CET on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, AIA stock traded at 8.63 euros on Lang & Schwarz. That was 1.05 percent above the 8.54-euro quote in our November 2 report at 16:04 CET, a separate comparison from the daily exchange close.
New business remains positive year to date
According to AIA Group, value of new business rose 5 percent to 4,627 million US dollars in the first nine months of 2026 on a constant-exchange-rate basis. Third-quarter value of new business fell 5 percent to 1,415 million US dollars, reflecting exceptionally high prior-year sales in Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland.
The comparison improved during the quarter. September value of new business was more than 25 percent above the prior-year level, and the new-business margin increased by 5.3 percentage points to 63.5 percent. AIA said growth in Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and other markets partly offset weakness in Hong Kong and mainland China.
Leadership change enters execution
Edward Moncreiffe became regional chief executive on November 2, 2026, with responsibility for India, Sri Lanka, Australia and New Zealand. He joined AIA's Group Executive Committee and reports to Group Chief Executive and President Lee Yuan Siong.
The appointment does not include a new earnings or revenue forecast. Investors will focus on whether the new regional structure improves distribution, product mix and execution across the four markets. AIA also reiterated that it expects to exceed its 9 to 11 percent operating profit after tax per share compound annual growth target for 2023 through 2026.
