AIXTRON reported a sharp increase in third-quarter orders on Thursday, October 29, 2026, as demand for equipment used in AI data-center communications strengthened. In its EQS News release, the company said order intake reached 274.9 million euros, while the equipment backlog rose to 549.4 million euros.

What has changed since the preliminary update

The final figures add detail to the previously reported order strength. Optoelectronics accounted for about 68 percent of equipment orders, with demand for indium-phosphide components tied to high-speed optical connections. Power electronics contributed 24 percent, and AIXTRON said improving customer utilization, renewed order activity and capacity preparations point to an early recovery in gallium nitride and silicon carbide applications.

Third-quarter revenue rose 54 percent year on year to 183.6 million euros. Gross profit increased 88 percent to 87.3 million euros, lifting the gross margin to 48 percent from 39 percent. EBIT climbed to 56.7 million euros from 15.4 million euros, and the EBIT margin widened to 31 percent from 13 percent.

Guidance stays intact

For the first nine months, revenue fell 3 percent to 358.1 million euros, while order intake increased 76 percent to 660.9 million euros. Free cash flow reached 289.9 million euros, supported in part by customer advance payments that helped finance the production ramp.

AIXTRON confirmed its 2026 revenue target of 560 million euros plus or minus 30 million euros, a gross margin of about 42 percent and an EBIT margin of 17 to 20 percent. Management expects order intake to remain high or increase in coming quarters. Formal 2027 guidance is scheduled with the full-year results on March 4, 2027.
