Alibaba Cloud opened its first public cloud region in the Netherlands on October 29, 2026, bringing two data centers online in Amsterdam. The company's EQS Newswire release presents the site as a response to European demand for cloud and artificial intelligence services.
New partners broaden Amsterdam rollout
The release names JetBrains, orq.ai, Monks, Magnific and Idea.ai as Netherlands-based companies using or integrating Alibaba Cloud technologies. Their projects cover Qwen models, AI coding, hosted model access, marketing workflows and generative media.
Alibaba Cloud also introduced agent-focused services for the region, including ACS Agent Sandbox, Agent Security Center, AI Security Guardrails 2.0, Agentic SOC and STAROps. The latest Apsara Stack generation adds more than 80 cloud and AI products for public-sector and enterprise workloads.
European capacity remains the focus
Amsterdam becomes Alibaba Cloud's fourth European region after Frankfurt, London and Paris. The company said the new location expands its global infrastructure to 109 availability zones across 32 regions and supports local data residency, lower latency and disaster recovery.
Alibaba Cloud also plans to establish its first cloud regions in Finland and expand its data-center footprint in Germany and France over the next 12 months. For investors, the rollout adds operating capacity and named customer relationships, while the announcement does not provide revenue targets for the new region.
