Amrize stock: Roofing margin recovery pushed into 2027
Published on 11/06/2026 at 10:19 | Editorial responsibility: Rafael Müller, Editor-in-Chief AD HOC NEWSRoofing recovery faces another delay
- Amrize increased third-quarter revenue and net income despite weather and inflation pressure.
- Building Materials margins expanded as pricing, surcharges and ASPIRE savings offset higher costs.
- Commercial roofing remained resilient, while weaker residential demand and input costs delayed Building Envelope price-cost positivity.
Amrize reported resilient third-quarter results on October 28, 2026, but pushed the expected recovery in roofing profitability further into the future. In its third-quarter earnings release, the company said inflation had moved price-cost positivity in Building Envelope into 2027.
Quarterly growth meets cost pressure
Revenue for the quarter ended September 30 rose 2.2 percent year over year to 3.771 billion US dollars. Net income increased 3.3 percent to 558 million US dollars, while adjusted EBITDA edged up 0.2 percent to 1.076 billion US dollars. Adjusted diluted earnings per share remained unchanged at 1.05 US dollars.
Pricing and acquisitions supported the group result, with price increases contributing 78 million US dollars, acquisitions adding 77 million US dollars and energy, fuel and freight surcharges contributing 23 million US dollars. These gains were partly offset by lower volumes, foreign exchange effects and higher freight, diesel and raw-material costs. The adjusted EBITDA margin declined to 28.5 percent from 29.1 percent a year earlier.
Building Materials provides support
The Building Materials segment delivered the stronger performance. Revenue increased 1.8 percent to 2.842 billion US dollars and segment adjusted EBITDA rose 2.7 percent to 938 million US dollars. Cement pricing increased 1.8 percent on a constant-currency basis, while aggregates pricing grew 6.9 percent. The segment margin expanded by 30 basis points.
Weather reduced cement volumes by 4.2 percent and aggregates volumes by 0.2 percent in the quarter. Amrize nevertheless expects Building Materials to be price-cost positive in the fourth quarter, helped by pricing, energy and freight surcharges and its ASPIRE efficiency program. The program had delivered 73 million US dollars of savings in the first nine months, with an 80 million US dollar target for the full year.
Roofing recovery moves into 2027
Building Envelope revenue increased 3.6 percent to 929 million US dollars, supported by commercial roofing, data-center projects and industrial demand. Segment adjusted EBITDA fell 14.6 percent to 182 million US dollars, however, as freight and raw-material costs outweighed improved pricing and surcharges.
Amrize said commercial roofing volumes should remain resilient, while residential roofing is likely to stay softer because existing-home sales are weak and the quarter lacked significant storms that typically support reroofing. The company expects the segment's price-cost spread to improve sequentially in the fourth quarter, but now sees price-cost positivity in 2027.
Guidance and shareholder returns
Amrize updated its 2026 guidance to revenue of 12.2 billion to 12.4 billion US dollars and adjusted EBITDA of 2.95 billion to 3.05 billion US dollars. Elevated interest rates may weigh on fourth-quarter volumes, while normal seasonal destocking is expected to pressure shingle demand.
The board declared a quarterly dividend of 0.11 US dollars per share, payable on November 18, 2026. The last trading day with dividend entitlement is November 9, and the shares are scheduled to trade ex-dividend on November 10.
