- Revenue growth was driven by advanced logic, foundry and memory demand.
- The fourth-quarter outlook points to continued expansion at constant currencies.
- Management tied the new repurchase authorization to its strong cash position and financial performance.
ASM International reported record third-quarter revenue on Tuesday, October 27, as demand for semiconductor manufacturing equipment accelerated across advanced logic, foundry and memory markets. The company also raised its long-term revenue outlook and authorized a new share buyback program.
According to the ASM release published through GlobeNewswire, revenue reached EUR 1,159.4 million in the three months to September. That was 45 percent above the year-earlier period on a reported basis and 44 percent higher at constant currencies. Revenue also exceeded the EUR 1,003.1 million recorded in the second quarter.
AI demand lifts quarterly performance
ASM said growth was led by an acceleration in advanced logic and foundry sales, including an initial solid contribution from investments in 1.4-nanometer production. Memory sales also grew strongly, while demand in mature logic and foundry remained robust. The company described customer capacity ramps and AI-related demand as important drivers of the quarter.
Gross margin was 52.0 percent, broadly stable compared with 51.9 percent in both the second quarter and the year-earlier quarter. Adjusted operating margin reached 33.4 percent. Adjusted net earnings rose to EUR 315.4 million from EUR 206.2 million a year earlier, an increase of EUR 109 million. Reported net earnings were EUR 308.1 million, compared with EUR 384.1 million in the prior-year quarter, reflecting the distinction between the reported and adjusted measures.
Management raises 2027 ambition
For the fourth quarter, ASM expects revenue of EUR 1,230 million, plus or minus 5 percent, at constant currencies. The company expects full-year 2026 revenue to grow by about 35 percent at constant currencies, with equipment revenue increasing by more than 40 percent.
ASM now projects 2027 revenue above EUR 5.7 billion at constant currencies. That level matches the revenue target the company had previously set for 2030, bringing the target forward by three years. The outlook gives investors a clearer measure of management's confidence in demand for advanced deposition equipment, while the company also cautioned that supply-chain conditions are becoming increasingly tight.
Buyback adds capital-return focus
The Management Board authorized a new share buyback of up to EUR 300 million on October 27. ASM said the decision reflected its strong cash position and financial performance. The previous EUR 150 million program was completed during the third quarter after the company repurchased 185,522 shares at an average price of EUR 808.53 between August 10 and September 14.
The real-time quote of the ASM International stock stood at Lang & Schwarz on Friday, October 30, 2026, at 09:13 Berlin time at 755.70 euros.
