BAE Systems unveiled Sea Tridon, a modular 40mm naval gun system, at Euronaval 2026 in France on Tuesday, November 3. The announcement adds a new product detail to the maritime technology focus already surrounding the company’s appearance at the exhibition.

A broader naval protection family

According to BAE Systems, Sea Tridon combines the Bofors 40mm gun with an integrated electro-optical fire-control system. The company presented it as part of a four-system family that also includes the containerized Sea Tridon C, the radar-equipped Sea Trinity close-in weapon system and the Bofors 40 Mk4 Naval Gun.

The common foundation is the Bofors 3P programmable ammunition. BAE Systems says the ammunition offers six programmable fuze modes and can address air, surface and shore-based threats. The modular design allows operators to select different levels of sensor integration, fire-control capability and deployment flexibility while retaining common training, logistics and support.

Why the showcase matters

EuroNaval runs from November 3 through November 6 at Paris Nord Villepinte. BAE Systems is also presenting maritime autonomy, open software and integrated naval capabilities, including systems designed to connect platforms, sensors and command functions.

The company’s own November 1 report had already placed the exhibition in the context of its naval technology offering and order visibility. The Sea Tridon launch now gives investors a specific product announcement to track alongside the broader showcase. It does not by itself establish a new contract or financial guidance.
