- Assets under management expanded strongly through September 30, 2026, while gross non-performing assets improved year over year.
- Higher provisions remain a watchpoint as Bajaj Finance scales its lending book.
- Planned capital raising could provide additional funding for future growth, subject to approvals.
Bajaj Finance stock remains in focus after the lender delivered strong second-quarter growth, with consolidated profit after tax rising 29 percent year over year to 6,367 crore rupees for Q2 FY27. The figures were reported by Dalal Street Journal on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, after Bajaj Finserv approved its Q2 FY27 results.
Lending growth drives group earnings
Bajaj Finance remained the principal earnings driver within the financial services group. Consolidated net total income rose 23 percent to 15,974 crore rupees in the quarter, while assets under management increased 26 percent to 584,624 crore rupees as of September 30, 2026.
Growth was accompanied by an improvement in credit quality. Gross non-performing assets declined to 1.06 percent from 1.24 percent a year earlier. The lender added 4.42 million customers during the quarter and booked 13.45 million new loans, underscoring the scale of its retail lending franchise.
Provisioning remains an investor focus
Loan losses and provisions rose 4 percent to 2,166 crore rupees. The total included 337 crore rupees of management and macroeconomic provisions, making credit costs an important measure for investors as the company expands its loan book.
The results also highlighted the wider Bajaj Finserv portfolio. Bajaj General Insurance reported weaker profitability, while Bajaj Life Insurance delivered higher new-business value. For Bajaj Finance, the combination of faster AUM growth and improving asset quality supports operating momentum, but funding costs and credit provisions remain key factors for future margins.
Capital plans could support expansion
Bajaj Finserv is preparing a capital raise of up to 17,500 crore rupees through a qualified institutional placement of up to 11,700 crore rupees and preferential warrants worth up to 5,800 crore rupees. The proposals remain subject to regulatory, statutory and shareholder approvals. Additional capital could give the lending business more room to expand, while also making execution and future dilution important considerations.
