Bechtle and IQM Quantum Computers secured a public framework agreement from the German Aerospace Center's Quantum Computing Initiative on October 20, 2026. Under the contract, Bechtle will provide DLR QCI application teams with cloud-based access to IQM's superconducting quantum systems.

The agreement expands the technology portfolio available to the initiative and supports benchmarking against other quantum-computing architectures. Bechtle announced the contract in a company press release.

Managed access supports research workloads

Bechtle's Competence Centre for Quantum Technologies at its IT System House Bonn will manage user onboarding and account administration on IQM's Resonance cloud platform. The unit will also provide access to computing time on IQM's superconducting quantum systems and support secure platform operations.

The arrangement is designed for quantum algorithms and hybrid workloads that combine quantum processors with conventional high-performance computing. A dedicated server at IQM's Munich data center will support those workloads, while DLR QCI gains cloud-based access to the systems until June 2027.

DLR QCI is building a broader technology mix that includes trapped-ion, neutral-atom, photonic and NV-center approaches. The addition of superconducting systems gives its research teams another architecture for applications in materials research, aerospace, mobility and security.

Partnership extends beyond one contract

Bechtle and IQM began working together in 2024 and have expanded their cooperation since then. Bechtle Managing Director Christian Behma said the offering combines advanced technology with the flexibility needed by DLR QCI, while IQM CEO Jan Goetz highlighted European operation and technical support.
