BIST 100 closed at 12,374.26 points on October 6, 2026, down 0.56 percent from Monday's close, as CNBC-e reported. The index opened at 12,437.59 points, reached 12,445.50 at its high and fell to 12,314.32 at its low, according to Anadolu Agency.

Drivers and sectors

Buying in banking shares did not offset selling in industrial stocks. The banking index gained 0.66 percent, while the holding index lost 0.81 percent. Food and beverage was the strongest sector, rising 1.63 percent, while leasing and factoring fell 6.67 percent, CNBC-e said.

Global markets provided a mixed backdrop. Oil prices and bond yields declined, while optimism around artificial intelligence supported gains in US stocks during the session. The local index nevertheless finished lower as industrial shares came under pressure.
