Fourth-quarter pressure follows disrupted quarter
Management expects fourth-quarter reported and organic sales to decline between 1.0 percent and 3.0 percent from the prior-year quarter. Adjusted earnings per share are forecast at USD 0.77 to USD 0.79. For full-year 2026, Boston Scientific now targets reported sales growth of approximately 4.25 percent, organic growth of approximately 3.75 percent and adjusted earnings per share of USD 3.16 to USD 3.18.
The third-quarter result included a weaker contribution from the company's main businesses. Cardiovascular sales rose 1.9 percent, while MedSurg sales increased 0.7 percent on an organic basis. The company also reported GAAP earnings of USD 0.40 per share, compared with USD 0.51 a year earlier, while adjusted earnings reached USD 0.73 per share versus USD 0.75.
Innovation offers longer-term support
Boston Scientific started enrollment in the Elite AF trial for its next-generation WATCHMAN Elite device. It also received United States regulatory clearance for StoneSmart technologies and an expanded size offering for the SEISMIQ peripheral catheter.
A strategic collaboration with Heartflow will focus on artificial-intelligence-supported planning for percutaneous coronary intervention procedures. These launches and partnerships support the pipeline, but the near-term outlook remains constrained by weaker demand and operating disruption.
