BYD reported September export growth of 153.90 percent, while Börse Global reported that JPMorgan had cut its BYD target from HKD 124 to HKD 88 and lowered the rating to Neutral on September 29, 2026. The euro quote stood at EUR 8.33 at Lang & Schwarz on October 8, 2026 at 11:05 a.m. CEST, down 0.83 percent versus EUR 8.40.
Exports become the growth engine
According to Reuters on October 1, 2026, BYD sold 463,561 vehicles in September, 17.00 percent more than in the same month a year earlier. Passenger-vehicle and pickup exports reached 179,877 units, a 153.90 percent year-over-year increase.
The split matters. BYD delivered 3,131,576 vehicles in the first nine months of 2026, but the cumulative total was 3.90 percent below the comparable 2025 period, while overseas shipments provided the strongest offset to weaker domestic demand.
Profit growth meets margin pressure
Yahoo Finance reported that BYD posted second-quarter net profit of CNY 8.20 billion, up 30.00 percent year over year. The same report put first-half gross profit margin at 18.85 percent, compared with 18.01 percent a year earlier.
That combination gives the stock a clear tension to price. Overseas volume is accelerating, but the 3.90 percent nine-month decline and domestic competition leave profitability more important than headline deliveries alone.
Analyst caution contrasts with expansion
JPMorgan's September 29, 2026 downgrade, reported by Börse Global, cited weak Chinese auto demand, higher input costs and international trade barriers. The HKD 36 reduction in the target makes the analyst view materially more cautious, even as exports are expanding.
BYD's investor-relations page identifies BYD Company Limited as listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange under ticker 002594.SZ and also lists its Hong Kong shares. The company operates across new energy vehicles, batteries, electronics and related products, giving export growth several channels beyond passenger cars.
