Crédit Agricole S.A. reported a strong third quarter on Friday, October 30, 2026, as revenue growth and a better cost-income ratio supported profitability. The results were released by the bank and published in its financial release.
Net income Group share reached 1.991 billion euros in the three months to September, up 17.9 percent from the third quarter of 2025. Excluding the capital gain from the initial public offering of SBI Funds Management and the prior-year comparison effect, adjusted growth was 11.0 percent. Revenue rose 7.5 percent to 7.092 billion euros, while gross operating income increased 14.6 percent to 3.164 billion euros.
Investment banking drives momentum
Corporate and investment banking was a central growth engine. Revenue in the division increased 10.4 percent to 1.748 billion euros, with capital markets and investment banking revenue rising 14.1 percent to 858 million euros. The bank said fixed-income, currencies and commodities activity benefited from strong commercial momentum in a higher-rate environment.
Asset gathering also contributed to the quarter. Assets under management across the division reached 3.299 trillion euros at the end of September, up 10.9 percent year on year, while quarterly net inflows reached 46 billion euros excluding outflows from an Indian joint-venture mandate. The division's revenue increased 8.6 percent to 2.026 billion euros.
Risk costs remain a watchpoint
Higher earnings came despite a rising cost of risk. Crédit Agricole S.A. recorded a net addition of 585 million euros, 19.6 percent more than a year earlier. The bank said the charge included provisions for both non-performing and performing loans. Its non-performing-loan ratio stood at 2.5 percent at the end of September, with a coverage ratio of 67.0 percent.
For the first nine months, net income Group share rose 1.0 percent to 5.718 billion euros on a stated basis. Adjusted for the SBI Funds Management capital gain and the prior-year Amundi US effect, growth was 2.9 percent. Return on tangible equity reached 14.2 percent, while the company reported a common equity Tier 1 ratio of 11.2 percent.
Germany becomes a strategic priority
Chief Executive Officer Olivier Gavalda said the bank was continuing the rollout of its ACT 2028 plan. Crédit Agricole highlighted the launch of CA Deutschland, the expansion of its digital savings platform into additional European markets and the planned acquisition of IKB, a lender focused on Germany's Mittelstand. The group also launched Crédit Agricole Capital Naturel and an artificial-intelligence company, alongside partnerships with Mistral and Prisme.ai.
