- North American deliveries advanced faster than the group's overall vehicle sales.
- Battery-electric vehicle volumes declined despite higher total deliveries.
- Detailed financial results are scheduled for November 6.
Daimler Truck reported a sharp increase in vehicle deliveries for the third quarter ended September 30, while battery-electric volumes declined. Alliance News reported on October 8 that the commercial vehicle maker sold 91,260 trucks and buses during the period, compared with 72,277 a year earlier.
Daimler Truck stock traded at 39.78 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 10:05 CET on Wednesday, November 4, 1.78 percent below the Xetra close of Tuesday, November 3. The company is scheduled to publish its detailed third-quarter financial and non-financial results on Friday, November 6.
North America Drives Delivery Growth
Trucks North America led the increase, with deliveries rising 51 percent to 45,629 vehicles from 30,225 in the year-earlier quarter. Mercedes-Benz Trucks also increased deliveries, up 13 percent to 40,362 vehicles from 35,818.
Daimler Buses moved in the opposite direction. Deliveries fell 16 percent to 5,394 vehicles from 6,443 a year earlier. The figures cover continuing operations after Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation was integrated into ARCHION on April 1.
Electric Volumes Move Lower
Battery-electric vehicle sales fell 28 percent to 1,207 trucks and buses from 1,679. The decline contrasts with the group's higher overall volumes and leaves the upcoming financial release to show whether the delivery increase translated into revenue, profitability and cash flow.
For the first nine months, total vehicle sales rose 8 percent to 246,816 vehicles from 228,642 in the comparable period. North American deliveries increased 8 percent to 116,748, while Mercedes-Benz Trucks rose 12 percent to 113,818. Daimler Buses declined 16 percent to 16,498 vehicles.
Alliance News also reported that battery-electric deliveries for the first nine months slipped 2 percent to 3,354 vehicles from 3,431. For investors, the November 6 release is the next major test of whether stronger North American demand can improve the group's financial performance while electric volumes remain under pressure.
