- The DBS report surveyed 422 finance leaders at companies with annual revenue above 500 million US dollars across 11 markets.
- Respondents are combining tokenised money with artificial intelligence to improve liquidity, payments and treasury controls.
- The bank positions itself as an integration partner, while regulation, security and implementation remain constraints.
DBS Group is highlighting the growing use of tokenised money in corporate treasury operations, as large companies seek faster settlement, broader currency access and tighter liquidity controls. The findings come from the report The Great Rewiring: Money in a new order, published by DBS on October 28, 2026.
According to The Asian Banker, 88% of surveyed businesses were already deploying or piloting tokenised-money use cases. The survey covered 422 finance leaders from companies with annual revenue above 500 million US dollars in 11 markets.
Corporate treasury moves beyond pilots
The survey found that stablecoins were the most widely adopted or planned tokenised instrument, followed by tokenised deposits and tokenised money market funds. Respondents pointed to practical treasury objectives rather than speculative use: 72% expected better auditability and traceability, while 71% cited real-time cross-border payments and 65% saw potential to improve liquidity management.
DBS also reported that 78% of respondents had expanded their exposure to multiple settlement currencies. That trend reflects changing trade corridors and a desire to move funds across markets with more flexibility. For DBS, the development supports its institutional-banking and transaction-services strategy, although the survey does not quantify additional revenue or profit from these activities.
Artificial intelligence is developing alongside tokenised money. Around three in four respondents said they had experienced or expected improvements in areas such as cash forecasting, payment investigations, post-settlement resolution, reconciliation and exception detection. The combination could increase the value of transaction data and automated treasury services, but it also raises demands for secure systems and clear controls.
Integration remains the central hurdle
Regulatory uncertainty, data security, operational risk, limited expertise and integration complexity were identified as barriers. Some 64% of respondents wanted banks to provide a single access point to the tokenised-money ecosystem, while 63% sought help with pilots, integration or bank-enabled technology platforms.
DBS executives described banks as potential anchors between parallel settlement networks. That positioning offers a route to deeper client relationships, but adoption will depend on regulatory standards, interoperability and measurable efficiency gains. The survey is based on corporate responses and does not by itself establish transaction volumes or cost savings.
