Diamondback Energy reported stronger third-quarter results on November 2, with higher production guidance and an increased base dividend. The company said in its financial and operating release that the period ended September 30 generated substantial cash for operations and shareholder returns.

Cash flow expands shareholder returns

Diamondback generated $2.6 billion in net cash from operating activities and $2.1 billion in free cash flow. The company repurchased 1.3 million shares for about $251 million and approved a 7.3% increase in its base dividend to $1.18 per share. The payment is scheduled for November 19 to shareholders of record on November 12.

Net income attributable to Diamondback reached $1.603 billion, or $5.69 per diluted share. Adjusted net income was $1.649 billion, or $5.86 per diluted share. Revenue rose to $5.431 billion, while the company reported average oil production of 525,000 barrels per day and total production of 1.034 million barrels of oil equivalent per day.

Higher output comes with more spending

Diamondback lifted its full-year 2026 oil production outlook to about 524,000 barrels per day from more than 522,000 previously. Total production guidance increased to about 1.015 million barrels of oil equivalent per day from more than 1 million. The company also raised its full-year capital spending forecast to $3.95 billion to $4.00 billion from about $3.9 billion.

Fourth-quarter oil production is expected at 518,000 to 528,000 barrels per day, with capital spending of $1.00 billion to $1.05 billion. The higher spending plan means investors will weigh production growth against reinvestment intensity and commodity-price exposure.
