Drägerwerk stock weighs stronger sales against Q3 EBIT decline

Drägerwerk stock is balancing stronger nine-month sales against a weaker third-quarter profit. The company kept its 2026 outlook unchanged.

Sales Growth Meets Quarterly Margin Pressure

  • Currency-adjusted nine-month sales increased, while customs refunds lifted reported EBIT.
  • Third-quarter EBIT declined year on year as functional costs rose faster than sales.
  • Drägerwerk retained its 2026 sales-growth and EBIT-margin targets.
  • A Capital Markets Day is scheduled for November 18 in Lübeck.

Drägerwerk reported stronger sales and earnings for the first nine months of 2026, but the third quarter showed renewed pressure on profitability. In its preliminary release of October 14, the Lübeck-based medical and safety technology group said third-quarter EBIT fell to 48 million euros from 56.7 million euros a year earlier, while sales rose to about 851 million euros. The Deutsche Börse release attributed the margin pressure to slower sales growth and a disproportionate increase in functional costs.

Strong Nine-Month Sales, Mixed Profit Picture

Currency-adjusted sales increased 5.3 percent to about 2.454 billion euros in the first nine months, compared with 2.3435 billion euros in the prior-year period. Both divisions contributed: Safety Technology sales rose 6.5 percent to about 1.087 billion euros, while Medical Technology sales advanced 4.4 percent to about 1.367 billion euros.

Group EBIT rose to about 112 million euros from 77.1 million euros, lifting the margin to 4.6 percent from 3.3 percent. The comparison was helped by 27.9 million euros in customs refunds, including 20.1 million euros in the third quarter. The company said 3.8 million euros of the refunds related to current-year customs payments and were therefore earnings-neutral.

Order intake increased 3.6 percent on a currency-adjusted basis to about 2.674 billion euros during the nine-month period. Safety Technology was the stronger contributor, with order intake up 13.1 percent, while Medical Technology order intake declined 3.5 percent. Drägerwerk said the medical comparison was affected by a large Mexican hospital-infrastructure order received in the second quarter of 2025.

Third Quarter Highlights Cost Control

In the third quarter, currency-adjusted sales rose 1.0 percent and order intake increased 7.0 percent. Safety Technology order intake jumped 20.2 percent, supported by demand in Germany, the Americas and Asia-Pacific. Medical Technology order intake fell 3.0 percent, leaving investors to weigh strong safety demand against softer medical bookings.

The quarterly EBIT margin narrowed to 5.6 percent from 6.8 percent. Drägerwerk also pointed to a high prior-year comparison, when catch-up effects, strong sales growth and moderate cost development had supported EBIT. The combination of higher costs and limited quarterly sales growth leaves execution in the final quarter important for the full-year margin target.

Drägerwerk stock traded at 108.30 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 10:07 CET on Thursday, November 5, 2026, 1.59 percent above the Xetra close of Wednesday, November 4. Investors can follow the real-time quote of Drägerwerk stock.

Outlook Remains Unchanged

The company retained its 2026 forecast for currency-adjusted sales growth of 2.0 to 6.0 percent and an EBIT margin of 6.0 to 8.0 percent. The next scheduled strategic milestone is Drägerwerk's Capital Markets Day on November 18, 2026, in Lübeck, when management plans to present its Ambition 2030.
