- EDP lifted its 2026 recurring net profit guidance after a stronger first nine months.
- Renewables and Iberian networks supported the earnings increase.
- EDP Renewables more than doubled recurring net profit in the first nine months.
EDP raised its full-year 2026 recurring net profit guidance on Friday, November 6, after recurring profit increased 22% in the first nine months. Reuters reported that Portugal's largest utility now expects recurring net profit of 1.4 billion to 1.5 billion euros.
Guidance moves higher
The company also raised its recurring EBITDA outlook to 5.4 billion euros from 5.3 billion euros. Reuters said the upgrade was EDP's third this year and followed what management described as stronger execution across all business segments.
Recurring net profit reached 1.19 billion euros through September. Recurring EBITDA rose 11% to 4.2 billion euros, giving investors a broader earnings improvement than the profit figure alone.
Renewables and networks lead
EDP said stronger renewable operations and higher regulatory returns at its Iberian networks business supported the result. EDP Renewables generated recurring net profit of 439 million euros, more than double the year-earlier level, helped by growth in the United States and higher capital gains, according to Reuters.
The upgraded outlook increases the importance of execution in the final quarter. Investors will focus on whether renewable generation, asset rotation and regulated network returns can support the new full-year targets while the group continues its investment program.
