EDP Transmissão Goiás won Lot 2 in Brazil's Transmission Auction No. 4/2026 on Friday, October 30, adding a regulated transmission project to EDP's Brazilian portfolio. Brazil's electricity regulator ANEEL announced the award and the project details on its website.

Brazil project adds regulated exposure

The lot requires estimated investment of 317 million Brazilian reais. EDP Transmissão Goiás offered permitted annual revenue of 26.53 million Brazilian reais, 53.29 percent below ANEEL's initial ceiling of 56.8 million reais.

The award covers the Iaciara 2 substation, with 230/138 kilovolt equipment and 300 megavolt-amperes of transformation capacity. It also includes 126 kilometers of transmission lines linking Iaciara and Guarani de Goiás in Goiás with Correntina in Bahia. ANEEL said the facilities should improve electricity service in northeastern Goiás.

The regulator expects construction to finish within 48 months and estimates that the project could create 792 jobs. The permitted annual revenue becomes payable once the installations enter commercial operation, so the award adds future infrastructure exposure rather than an immediate earnings contribution.

Construction comes before revenue

For investors, the project broadens EDP's regulated-network presence in Brazil. The financial contribution will depend on construction progress, commissioning and the start of commercial operations, leaving the main operating impact several years ahead.

The award was made at an auction held on October 30, while ANEEL's announcement was published the same day. The regulator's auction announcement details the project's scope, bid and construction timetable.
