Corporate News Encavis strengthens its Italian business with first large-scale battery storage project Hamburg, August 11, 2026 – Encavis is adding a utility-scale battery storage system to its Italian portfolio for the first time. The standalone battery storage facility in Ceprano (Lazio region) will have an installed capacity of around 65 MW and a storage capacity of around 260 MWh. Commissioning is scheduled for 2028. The project forms part of Encavis' strategic evolution towards an integrated platform combining renewable power generation, battery storage and market-based optimisation. It was acquired from ReFeel New Energy, a leading Italian developer backed by Gresham House Europe (formerly SUSI Partners) and ReFeel Group. "With Ceprano, we are realising our first large-scale battery storage project in Italy and adding an important element of flexibility to our existing solar portfolio. Going forward, storage will play a central role in efficiently integrating renewable energy into the energy system and in unlocking additional value-creation potential," says Mario Schirru, CEO of Encavis. Like many European power markets, Italy faces the challenge of efficiently integrating a growing share of renewable energy into its energy system. Battery storage is becoming increasingly important in this respect, as it can decouple electricity generation from consumption over time and help to support grid stability. Italy is one of Encavis' most important growth and investment markets. The company already operates a photovoltaic portfolio there with an installed capacity of around 420 MW, making it one of the country's leading independent solar power producers. In early 2026, Encavis also secured around 3.7 TWh under Italy's Energy Release 2.0 programme – more than 16 percent of the total volume and one of the largest allocations under the programme. *** About Encavis Encavis is a next?generation independent power producer (IPP) enabling a flexible and resilient energy system by integrating renewable generation, battery storage, and market?oriented optimisation to deliver affordable clean energy for industrial customers.
