Profit growth lifts the outlook
In its third-quarter results published on October 23, Eni said adjusted net profit more than doubled from a year earlier to 2.8 billion euros. Pro forma adjusted EBIT reached 6 billion euros, while adjusted cash flow from operations before working capital was 4.29 billion euros.
Underlying upstream production increased 7 percent year over year to 1.83 million barrels of oil equivalent per day. Eni also raised its 2026 cash flow guidance to 16.5 billion euros, reflecting stronger operating performance and a supportive commodity environment.
Returns and upstream options expand
The improved outlook translated into higher planned distributions. Eni approved an extraordinary dividend of 0.46 euros per share, payable on December 9, and raised its 2026 share buyback to 3.8 billion euros. The ordinary 2026 dividend remains planned at 1.10 euros per share.
A separate Eni announcement on October 28 said operations had started at the Junin-5 heavy-oil field. Eni is the sole operator and plans to restore abandoned wells and drill new ones, with first-phase production targeted at 200,000 barrels per day by 2028.
The project adds a sizeable upstream growth option, but its production target lies ahead and depends on execution in Venezuela. For investors, the near-term case rests more directly on cash generation, portfolio performance and the enlarged shareholder-return program.
