Fresenius Medical Care reported broadly stable third-quarter revenue but weaker profitability on November 3, while management narrowed its 2026 operating-income outlook. The company is also advancing its transformation program and share buyback, adding fresh execution markers for investors.

Profit outlook moves lower

According to the Fresenius Medical Care press release, third-quarter revenue increased 1 percent year over year to 4,937 million euros. Adjusted operating income declined 5 percent to 545 million euros, while reported operating income fell 19 percent to 384 million euros.

Reported net income attributable to shareholders dropped 42 percent to 160 million euros. The result included 108 million euros of one-time costs linked to the refinement of the China strategy, including the discontinuation of local 4008A production and sales and the exit from peritoneal dialysis.

Fresenius Medical Care continues to expect broadly flat revenue in 2026. It now expects operating-income growth, excluding special items and at constant currency, to range from flat to a negative mid-single-digit percentage rate. Reuters said U.S. same-market treatments declined 1.1 percent in the quarter, the third consecutive quarterly decline, keeping treatment growth a central operating issue.

Savings and buybacks add support

The FME25+ transformation program delivered 74 million euros of additional sustainable savings in the quarter. The company expects 250 million euros of savings in 2026 and total program savings of 1.2 billion euros by the end of 2027.

Fresenius Medical Care had repurchased 9.1 million shares, or 3.4 percent of shares issued, for 357 million euros by September 30. The 5008X CAREsystem rollout also reached 348 U.S. clinics and 1.3 million treatments, supporting the longer-term technology strategy despite near-term reimbursement and inflation pressure.

Fresenius Medical Care stock traded at 41.91 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 5:08 p.m. CET on Friday, November 6, 2026, 0.97 percent below the Xetra close of Thursday, November 5.
