Fugro stock traded at 8.58 euros on Lang & Schwarz on Thursday. A weak third-quarter margin and an unchanged 2026 outlook keep pressure on the shares.

Margins Under Pressure Into 2027

  • Third-quarter revenue rose on a comparable basis, but lower marine pricing and exceptional costs weakened profitability.
  • Fugro kept its 2026 outlook unchanged and expects offshore wind site-characterisation markets to recover from the second half of 2027.
  • The company is advancing a EUR 50 million annualised cost-reduction programme while limiting 2026 capital expenditure to around EUR 150 million.

Fugro reported resilient third-quarter revenue but sharply weaker profitability in its trading update published on Friday, October 30. The company said comparable revenue rose 2.2% to EUR 525.2 million, while adjusted EBITDA fell to EUR 75.9 million from EUR 108.6 million a year earlier. The figures and management comments are set out in Fugro's official Q3 trading update.

Revenue Holds As Margins Contract

Adjusted EBITDA margin narrowed to 14.4% from 21.5%, while adjusted EBIT fell to EUR 27.2 million from EUR 64.9 million. Fugro attributed the pressure to lower pricing in marine site characterisation, costs related to the war in the Middle East and one-off charter expenses for two Australian inspection and monitoring campaigns.

Oil and gas and infrastructure activity supported revenue and helped offset weaker offshore wind demand. The 12-month backlog declined 8.5% on a comparable basis, including a 36% drop in offshore wind. Management said customers are awarding work closer to project execution, adding to near-term order visibility risks.

Cost Programme Meets Cautious Outlook

Fugro said its EUR 50 million annualised cost-reduction programme remains on track and that it is intensifying operational changes to improve profitability. Operating cash flow before working-capital changes was EUR 59.6 million, while free cash flow amounted to EUR 2.6 million in the quarter.

The full-year 2026 outlook remains unchanged. Customer caution, industry overcapacity and seasonal weakness in the fourth quarter are expected to weigh on the full-year margin. Capital expenditure is limited to around EUR 150 million, while Fugro expects offshore wind site-characterisation markets to start recovering from the second half of 2027.
