Kering stock was 41.82 percent below its EUR 354.20 52-week high as Gucci's China-made sneakers added a new test for the luxury group's recovery. Inside Retail reported on October 1, 2026 that Gucci had begun selling new sneaker models labeled Made in China.
Gucci tests luxury provenance
The move involved Gucci's Drip sneaker and a second slip-on model from the Primavera collection. Gucci said Italy would remain central to its manufacturing identity, while the selected Chinese partner supplied technical capabilities for the designs.
For Kering, the issue is larger than one product launch. Gucci is the group's flagship brand, and its first-half 2026 comparable revenue fell 5.00 percent to EUR 2.76 billion, according to the Reuters report carried by Inside Retail.
Recovery shows two speeds
Kering's first-half 2026 revenue reached EUR 7.22 billion, up 1.00 percent on a comparable basis, while recurring operating income was EUR 921.00 million and the margin was 12.80 percent. The figures came from the first-half results call published by Yahoo Finance.
The comparison is uneven: group revenue returned to comparable growth, but Gucci remained negative and group net income fell 60.00 percent to EUR 189.00 million in the first half. That gap leaves product pricing, brand desirability and margin recovery tightly linked.
Analyst target remains above price
Goldman Sachs initiated coverage with a Neutral rating and a EUR 250.00 price target on October 4, 2026, according to Markets Insider. That target lies 21.33 percent above the Lang & Schwarz price of EUR 206.05, but the Neutral rating reflects the execution risk around the recovery.
At Lang & Schwarz, Kering was trading at EUR 206.05 on October 8, 2026 at 11:42 a.m. CEST, down 2.61 percent versus the prior close of EUR 211.58. The company's market capitalization was EUR 25.3 billion, while its 52-week range was EUR 203.20 to EUR 354.20 as of October 8, 2026.
