Hon Hai stock is in focus after Chairman Young Liu outlined a major expansion in AI servers. Production capacity is booked well ahead.

AI scale meets execution risk

  • Chairman Young Liu sees Foxconn reaching half of the global AI-server market within a couple of years.
  • AI infrastructure could account for 60% to 65% of revenue within three to five years, excluding edge AI devices.
  • U.S. expansion and disciplined investment remain central to the profitability outlook.

Foxconn Chairman Young Liu said in a CNBC interview on Friday, October 30, that the company could capture half of the global AI-server market within a couple of years. The comments add a fresh growth angle for Hon Hai as cloud providers and AI developers continue to expand computing capacity.

Foxconn's share is currently around 40%, according to Liu, and could reach roughly 45% next year before advancing further. He also expects AI infrastructure to contribute 60% to 65% of revenue within three to five years, excluding edge AI devices that process workloads locally. CNBC reported the comments on October 30.

AI demand meets margin pressure

Production capacity is fully booked for at least the next year and a half, with demand led mainly by AI model developers and cloud-service providers. Governments and enterprises have not yet adopted the technology at the same scale, leaving further growth dependent on broader customer uptake.

Foxconn is expanding its U.S. manufacturing footprint and plans to move further up the supply chain. Higher U.S. production costs mean the company will initially emphasize products with stronger margins, including AI server racks and data-center equipment. Liu also warned that excessive investment could damage the business, while annual AI spending could exceed the planned range of 3 billion to 5 billion U.S. dollars if vertical integration expands.

What investors should watch
