HSBC stock traded at EUR 15.09 on Lang & Schwarz at 18:18 CET on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. That was 1.63 percent below the EUR 15.34 quote in the latest relevant report at 12:12 CET the same day, giving investors a fresh capital-market update without establishing a causal link to the bank's operating performance.
HSBC reported its third-quarter results on October 27. In the HSBC 3Q 2026 earnings release, profit before tax rose 32 percent year on year to USD 9.6 billion, while profit after tax increased 38 percent to USD 7.6 billion.
Underlying performance remains important
The headline profit comparison includes a USD 1.4 billion benefit from the non-recurrence of legal provisions recorded in the year-earlier quarter. Excluding notable items and on a constant-currency basis, profit before tax increased to USD 10.0 billion. Revenue reached USD 18.6 billion, net interest income rose 6 percent to USD 9.3 billion and expected credit losses declined 17 percent to USD 0.8 billion.
HSBC also retained its medium-term targets. The bank continues to expect banking net interest income of at least USD 46 billion in 2026 and targets return on tangible equity of at least 17 percent for 2026 through 2028, excluding notable items. Its 50 percent dividend payout target also remains unchanged.
Capital returns stay in focus
The board approved a third interim dividend of USD 0.10 per share. HSBC completed its previous USD 1 billion buyback on September 28 and intends to launch another programme of up to USD 1 billion before announcing its 2026 full-year results. The planned distribution adds a direct shareholder-return element while investors continue to assess the durability of underlying income growth and cost discipline.
