Infosys stock weighs weaker FY27 outlook against rising AI demand

- Infosys reduced its FY27 constant-currency revenue-growth guidance to 1% to 2% from 1.5% to 3%.
- Second-quarter revenue rose 10.7% year over year, while net profit increased 6.2%.
- AI revenue reached 10.5% of sales and large-deal contract value totaled 5.2 billion US dollars.
Infosys cut its fiscal 2027 growth outlook on Friday, October 23, 2026, after reporting second-quarter results for the period ended September 30. Business Standard reported that the company now expects fiscal 2027 revenue to grow 1% to 2% in constant-currency terms, compared with its previous range of 1.5% to 3%.
The revision puts weaker demand and pricing pressure at the center of the investment case. Infosys said growth in its largest market, the United States, could soften, while artificial intelligence is increasing pressure on pricing and client productivity expectations. Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Salil Parekh described the quarter as soft, citing weaker volumes and a focus on contracts that meet the company's economic guidelines.
Quarterly growth remains uneven
Revenue rose 10.7% year over year to 49,244 crore Indian rupees. Net profit increased 6.2% to 7,828 crore Indian rupees, although Business Standard said profit was below analyst expectations while revenue exceeded them. Dollar revenue increased 1.3%, and constant-currency revenue rose 1.5% year over year.
The underlying performance varied sharply by business line. Financial services revenue increased 2.1%, while energy, utilities and resources grew 7.3%. Retail revenue fell 7.7%, and high-tech revenue declined 17.3%. North American revenue dropped 1.5%, while European revenue increased 4.6%.
Infosys retained its fiscal 2027 operating-margin guidance of 20% to 22%. Chief Financial Officer Jayesh Sanghrajka said wage increases and continued pricing intensity would affect the second half. The company ended September with 332,542 employees, after adding 4,480 people during the quarter and hiring 8,000 fresh graduates.
AI and large deals temper concerns
AI remains the main counterweight to the weaker broad growth outlook. AI revenue represented 10.5% of total sales, up from 8.2% in the preceding quarter, and increased 29% sequentially. Infosys also reported 5.2 billion US dollars in large-deal contract value, including one contract worth more than 2 billion US dollars. Business Standard said the benefits from those deals are expected to begin in April, leaving a delay between signing and revenue contribution.
For investors, the combination creates a mixed setup: near-term organic growth is constrained by softer discretionary spending, sector weakness and AI-related pricing pressure, while AI demand and large contract wins could support later acceleration. The lower guidance makes evidence of improving volumes and profitable deal conversion more important for the next reporting cycle.
