ITOCHU Corporation is entering narrow-body aircraft engine maintenance through a minority investment in IAG Engine Tech, while Itochu stock was trading at EUR 13.18 at Lang & Schwarz at 9:10 a.m. CET on October 28, 2026. The company said in its October 28, 2026 release that it signed an agreement with Iberia to acquire the stake.
Aircraft maintenance adds a new link
The investment marks ITOCHU's first entry into the narrow-body aircraft engine maintenance, repair and overhaul market. IAG Engine Tech was established in Madrid in 2026 and will serve IAG airlines while developing third-party customers, according to the company release.
The new business is tied to engine families including the V2500, CFM56 and PW1100G-JM. IAG Engine Tech plans to expand into LEAP engine maintenance from early 2027 under a CFM LEAP Premier MRO license secured by IAG, giving ITOCHU exposure to a service market linked to newer aircraft engines.
What does the second investment add?
ITOCHU also announced a joint investment with Mercuria Holdings and En Growth Fund in Capital Ship, the holding company of Smart Technologies & Resources. The company's second October 28 release said Smart Technologies serves more than 2,500 retailers through duty-free and tax-refund systems.
That investment arrives ahead of Japan's planned November 2026 duty-free system change. Travelers will pay the tax-inclusive price and receive a consumption tax refund after customs approval on departure, creating demand for supporting infrastructure. ITOCHU said the partners will use retailer networks, payment expertise and purchase data to pursue marketing and sales opportunities.
Next date for investors
ITOCHU's investor-relations page states that results for fiscal 2026's second quarter will be announced on November 4, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. Japan time. The two new investments therefore arrive before the company's next scheduled reporting update.
Stock trades at EUR 13.18
The current euro quotation places the market focus on ITOCHU's expanding downstream strategy, from aircraft aftermarket services to tourism-related technology. Its operating footprint now includes two newly announced investment themes, but the releases do not disclose transaction values.
ITOCHU stock was trading at EUR 13.18 at Lang & Schwarz on October 28, 2026, at 9:10 a.m. CET. The further course of trading is shown by the continuously updated real-time quote of Itochu stock.
