- Jungheinrich began producing the EFG 2/2i and EFG 3/3i electric counterbalance forklifts in Moosburg on October 26.
- The new models target the 48-volt segment with load capacities of up to 2.0 tons.
- Compact dimensions, modular batteries and optional assistance systems are central features of the range.
Jungheinrich began production of its new EFG 2/2i and EFG 3/3i electric counterbalance forklifts at the Moosburg plant on October 26, according to logistics trade magazine LOGISTRA. The first vehicle to leave the assembly line was an EFG 320i.
The launch expands Jungheinrich's electric counterbalance forklift range in the 48-volt segment. The three-wheel EFG 2/2i covers load capacities from 1.4 to 2.0 tons, while the four-wheel EFG 3/3i is designed for loads from 1.6 to 2.0 tons. The models complement the existing portfolio and are aimed at warehouses, loading platforms and production areas where space is limited.
Compact design targets warehouses
Jungheinrich links the new generation to a more compact vehicle concept. According to the report, the lithium-ion versions can raise surface efficiency by up to 15 percent, while the turning circle is up to 300 millimeters smaller depending on the model. These characteristics are intended to support material handling in narrow aisles and confined industrial environments.
The range offers three performance variants and a modular energy concept. Integrated lithium-ion batteries are available with capacities of 346, 460 or 690 ampere-hours, while lead-acid batteries remain an alternative. The vehicles are also prepared for possible fuel-cell operation. Jungheinrich says development drew on experience from more than 170,000 vehicles sold.
Technology supports operating efficiency
The revised driver's workstation provides about 100 millimeters of additional legroom, while a vibration-decoupled cab is designed to reduce noise to 63 decibels A. Safety features include an angled B-pillar intended to cut the reversing blind spot by up to 65 percent. Optional systems include AI-supported person recognition, collision protection and an LED status light strip.
