- Third-quarter revenue increased 4.8 percent year on year to EUR 2.83 billion.
- Adjusted EBIT rose 6.5 percent in the quarter, supported by Intelligent Automation Solutions.
- KION lowered its 2026 revenue and adjusted EBIT ranges after weaker Industrial Trucks and Services orders.
- A November 5 teach-in will explain the new segment structure and IFRS 18 presentation.
KION Group's third-quarter update has left the investment case with two opposing signals: operating profit improved, but analysts have trimmed their 2027 earnings view. Simply Wall St reported on November 2 that its panel of 14 analysts now expects 2027 revenue of EUR 12.1 billion and statutory earnings per share of EUR 3.49, compared with earlier estimates of EUR 12.2 billion and EUR 3.56.
KION's official quarterly report shows third-quarter revenue of EUR 2.83 billion, up 4.8 percent from a year earlier. EBIT rose 3.7 percent to EUR 184.2 million, while adjusted EBIT increased 6.5 percent to EUR 202.9 million. Net income declined 14.8 percent to EUR 101.6 million, reflecting a higher tax charge despite the operating improvement.
Automation offsets truck-market pressure
The earnings mix remains important for investors. Intelligent Automation Solutions delivered the stronger contribution, helping offset muted earnings performance in Industrial Trucks and Services. KION said the latter segment's third-quarter order intake did not meet expectations, particularly in parts of the European market.
For the first nine months, revenue reached EUR 8.52 billion, up 3.9 percent. Adjusted EBIT rose 9.9 percent to EUR 632.5 million, and the adjusted EBIT margin improved to 7.4 percent from 7.0 percent. KION noted that the prior-year comparison benefited from a lower base because the 2025 period included substantial one-off costs from its efficiency program.
The company reduced its 2026 outlook in October. Group revenue is now expected between EUR 11.45 billion and EUR 11.75 billion, with adjusted EBIT between EUR 815 million and EUR 875 million. The revised targets mainly reflect weaker order intake in Industrial Trucks and Services, while the automation division's ranges were narrowed rather than broadly cut.
Forecast cuts meet stable valuation view
Analyst sentiment has softened at the earnings level, but the consensus price target held at EUR 49.40. The published range of EUR 37 to EUR 62 shows a wide spread of assumptions, so the unchanged midpoint does not remove execution risk. For shareholders, the central question is whether automation growth can continue to compensate for pressure on truck orders and margins.
KION stock traded at 34.63 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 12:06 CET on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, 2.73 percent above the Xetra close of Tuesday, November 3. The next scheduled investor event is the teach-in on Thursday, November 5, focused on KION's new segment structure and the effects of IFRS 18.
Most leasing activities are planned to move into a separate Financial Services segment from the first quarter of 2027. KION also plans to introduce the new reporting structure with its first-quarter 2027 results, with a further update based on full-year 2026 figures scheduled for March 4, 2027.
In the broader market, investors are watching the DAX for the wider direction of German equities.
