- Lufthansa Group revenue rose 9 percent year on year to 12.2 billion euros in the third quarter.
- Adjusted EBIT increased 6 percent despite a 543 million euro rise in fuel costs.
- The 2026 Adjusted EBIT forecast now stands at 1.7 billion to 2.0 billion euros.
Lufthansa Group reported a stronger third quarter on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, but narrowed its full-year profit range as jet fuel costs climbed. The company said in its third-quarter release that revenue reached a record level, while cost discipline and strong demand offset much of the fuel burden.
Revenue rose 9 percent from the prior-year quarter to 12.2 billion euros. Adjusted EBIT increased 6 percent to 1.4 billion euros, despite fuel costs rising by 543 million euros year on year. The Adjusted EBIT margin slipped to 11.5 percent from 11.9 percent.
Demand supports the earnings recovery
Lufthansa said demand remained robust across all segments. Network airlines increased available seat capacity by 1.6 percent, while unit revenue rose 5.2 percent. Average yields increased 7 percent, supported by premium-ticket demand and routes to Asia and North America.
The group also reported a mixed performance within its airline businesses. Network airlines generated Adjusted EBIT of 853 million euros, down 108 million euros from the prior year, while the point-to-point airlines segment increased Adjusted EBIT by 16 million euros to 214 million euros. Lufthansa Technik benefited from strong maintenance demand, with revenue up 20 percent to 2.3 billion euros and Adjusted EBIT up 54 percent to 200 million euros. Lufthansa Cargo tripled operating profit to 162 million euros from 49 million euros.
Net income rose by around 300 million euros to 1.3 billion euros, compared with 966 million euros a year earlier. Adjusted free cash flow was 793 million euros, slightly below the prior-year figure of 818 million euros. The company said net debt including pension liabilities stood at 7.3 billion euros at September 30, below 8.3 billion euros at the end of 2025.
Higher fuel costs narrow outlook
Lufthansa lowered the upper end of its 2026 Adjusted EBIT forecast to 2.0 billion euros from 2.2 billion euros, leaving the lower end unchanged at 1.7 billion euros. The company expects its full-year fuel bill to reach 9.3 billion euros. Chief Financial Officer Till Streichert said fourth-quarter demand should remain healthy, but fuel costs, demand and Lufthansa Cargo's performance will determine where the group lands within the range.
Reuters reported that the quarterly operating result was broadly in line with expectations, with the company-compiled analyst projection at 1.37 billion euros. For investors, the result shows that demand and operating savings are still cushioning the fuel shock, while the tighter forecast leaves less room for execution setbacks in the final quarter.
