Natera stock: ESMO data broaden the oncology case

Natera's oncology portfolio gained fresh clinical evidence at the European Society for Medical Oncology Congress 2026, according to a company release published on October 27. The findings give investors additional data points for assessing the commercial and scientific potential of the company's molecular residual disease tests.

In the phase III VOLGA trial in muscle-invasive bladder cancer, Signatera ctDNA dynamics were linked to event-free survival before radical cystectomy. Patients who remained Signatera-negative had a 24-month event-free survival rate of 91%. The rate was 81% for patients who initially tested positive but cleared ctDNA before surgery, and 55% for those who remained positive.

Evidence spans several cancer types

Natera said its technology was included in 25 ESMO abstracts, including nine oral presentations, alongside two concurrent publications. The company highlighted results from bladder, lung, endometrial and breast-cancer studies, with additional work presented in colorectal and gastroesophageal cancer.

In the MDT-Bridge lung study, Natera's Clarity MRD assay detected ctDNA in 99% of patients before treatment. Clearance at the second cycle of neoadjuvant therapy had an 83% predictive value for pathologic complete response, while clearance before surgery or chemoradiotherapy was associated with 100% one-year event-free survival.

In high-risk endometrial cancer, roughly one-fifth of patients were Signatera-positive after surgery, while postoperative Signatera status had a 97% negative predictive value for disease-specific events in the pembrolizumab arm. In HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer, 81% of exceptional responders maintained MRD negativity during serial monitoring.
