Nucor's October 26 results release showed a strong third quarter and added fresh detail on cash generation and capacity expansion. The figures and outlook come from Nucor's third-quarter release.

Pricing supports a steady outlook

Nucor reported USD 1.32 billion in net earnings attributable to stockholders for the quarter ended October 3, 2026, compared with USD 607 million a year earlier. Diluted earnings per share rose to USD 5.80 from USD 2.63, while EBITDA reached USD 2.28 billion versus USD 1.27 billion a year earlier.

Net sales increased to USD 11.25 billion from USD 8.52 billion. Management attributed the sequential improvement to higher average selling prices and increased volumes in the steel mills segment. Steel products also benefited from pricing and volume, while raw materials earnings declined on lower pricing and shipments.

Nucor expects consolidated fourth-quarter earnings to be generally in line with or modestly higher than the third quarter. Higher realized pricing is expected to offset seasonally lower volumes and higher costs in steel mills. Steel products earnings are also expected to remain stable, while raw materials earnings may decline slightly because of lower realized direct reduced iron pricing.

Cash generation and capacity expansion

Free cash flow reached USD 2.66 billion in the first nine months of 2026, based on USD 4.52 billion of operating cash flow and USD 1.86 billion of capital spending. Nucor returned approximately USD 1.36 billion to stockholders over the same period through share repurchases and dividends. The USD 0.56 quarterly dividend is payable on November 10 to stockholders of record as of September 30.

The company also highlighted the first heat at its West Virginia sheet mill in September and the start-up of a second galvanizing line at Nucor Steel Berkeley. These projects should expand capacity, but the near-term outlook still reflects seasonal volume pressure and higher production costs.

The real-time quote of Nucor stock was 243.15 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 17:15 CET on Friday, October 30.
