OCBC expanded its digital payments proposition during the week with the launch of Alipay+ Travel Treat. Ant International announced the initiative on October 29, 2026, saying OCBC customers can discover, claim and redeem overseas dining, shopping and travel offers directly in the bank's app. The Ant International announcement said the service builds on the companies' cross-border payments partnership.

The feature gives customers access to more than 200 merchant deals across seven destinations, including mainland China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia and Thailand. Vouchers can be claimed before travel and applied automatically when customers pay participating Alipay+ merchants with QR codes.

Digital payments remain strategic

Ant International said the number of OCBC customers using the app to scan and pay Alipay+ merchants overseas, as well as the transaction value, more than doubled in the first eight months of 2026 from the same period a year earlier. OCBC supports payments from Singapore bank accounts at participating merchants in more than 55 destinations.

The initiative gives OCBC another way to connect payments with travel services inside its mobile app. Ant International also pointed to potential future services such as ride-hailing and food delivery, although those extensions are not part of the current launch.

Separately, The Asian Banker said on October 30 that OCBC ranked third worldwide and first in Singapore and Asia Pacific in the TAB Global 1000 World's Strongest Banks 2026 ranking. The report highlighted the bank's diversified income, balance-sheet management and capital strength.
