Panasonic Holdings strengthened its growth narrative on October 30 after raising its fiscal 2027 forecasts, while its Panasonic Industry operating company announced a large expansion aimed at AI infrastructure demand. The announcements link the group's near-term earnings recovery with longer-term capacity in batteries, circuit materials and capacitors.

According to Capital Times, Panasonic raised its net profit forecast for the year ending March 2027 by 90 billion yen to 540 billion yen. The company also lifted its operating profit target to 710 billion yen from 590 billion yen and its sales forecast to 8.4 trillion yen from 7.8 trillion yen.

Batteries drive the earnings upgrade

For the six months ended September 30, sales increased 7.1% to 4.09 trillion yen, while operating profit rose 120.1% to 363.2 billion yen. Net profit attributable to shareholders climbed 94.5% to 277.0 billion yen, with earnings per share reaching 118.62 yen compared with 61.00 yen a year earlier.

The Energy segment was a key contributor. Its first-half operating profit rose to 96.5 billion yen from 33.1 billion yen, and the full-year target for the unit was raised 16% to 198 billion yen from 171 billion yen. In the July-to-September quarter, Energy operating profit reached 55.6 billion yen, compared with 1.2 billion yen a year earlier, according to the report.

Panasonic also raised its annual dividend outlook. The expected year-end payment increased by 16 yen to 43 yen, bringing the projected annual payout to 70 yen, compared with an earlier plan for 54 yen. The interim dividend is 27 yen and is scheduled for payment from November 30.

AI capacity expands across materials

Panasonic Industry said in an October 30 press release that it will invest approximately 92 billion yen in AI-related operations. About 67 billion yen is earmarked for additional MEGTRON circuit-material capacity in Suzhou, China, and Ayutthaya, Thailand.

A further 17 billion yen will expand SP-Cap capacitor production in Uji, Japan, and Batam, Indonesia. Panasonic Industry plans to spend another 8 billion yen on a research and development facility for next-generation semiconductor-packaging materials in Yokkaichi, Japan. The projects are intended to serve AI servers and data-center equipment, with some new facilities scheduled to begin operations from 2027 onward.

The investment gives investors a clearer view of how Panasonic is positioning its materials business for the AI buildout. It also raises execution questions, because the earnings outlook depends on converting demand into profitable capacity while the group continues to manage its broad portfolio.

Panasonic stock traded at 17.40 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 09:34 CET on Friday, November 6, 2026. Investors can follow the real-time quote of Panasonic stock.

Panasonic plans to file its half-year securities report on November 11. Further attention will focus on whether battery demand and AI-related materials can support the upgraded targets through the second half of the fiscal year. More news and analyses on Panasonic stock.
