- AI infrastructure demand pushed Panasonic to raise its fiscal 2027 outlook.
- Energy benefited from North American battery production and data-center storage demand.
- The revised profit target brings Panasonic's fiscal 2029 goal forward by two years.
Panasonic Holdings raised its fiscal 2027 outlook after reporting record second-quarter profit for the period ended September 30, 2026. In its official financial-results release, the company linked the upgrade to stronger-than-expected demand for AI infrastructure and related products.
AI demand lifts profit outlook
Second-quarter sales rose 8 percent year over year to 2,073.6 billion Japanese yen. Adjusted operating profit reached 213.2 billion yen, while operating profit was 180.7 billion yen and net profit attributable to stockholders rose to 141.8 billion yen.
Panasonic lifted fiscal 2027 sales guidance by 600 billion yen to 8,400 billion yen. Adjusted operating profit guidance increased by 130 billion yen to 780 billion yen, operating profit guidance by 120 billion yen to 710 billion yen and net profit guidance by 90 billion yen to 540 billion yen.
The revised adjusted operating profit target would allow Panasonic to reach its fiscal 2029 goal of more than 750 billion yen two years ahead of schedule. Management also raised its fiscal 2029 AI-infrastructure sales target to 1.6 trillion yen from 1.38 trillion yen.
Energy adds battery momentum
Energy segment sales increased 46 percent year over year to 331.9 billion yen. Adjusted operating profit reached 56.7 billion yen as North American vehicle-battery production increased and demand for energy-storage systems at data centers strengthened.
Energy sales linked to data centers reached 114.9 billion yen in the quarter. Panasonic maintained its full-year North American vehicle-battery shipment target at 46 gigawatt-hours, with production expected to rise at its Kansas and Nevada facilities. Raw-material inflation, capacity expansion and possible delays in data-center construction remain execution risks.
