RINA has secured a three-year contract worth USD 12.3 million, or EUR 11 million, from Petrobras for engineering and technical assessments of subsea infrastructure in Brazil. Offshore Engineer reported the contract on Friday, November 6, 2026, adding a new operational development to the recent focus on Petrobras production.
Contract Covers Offshore Asset Lifecycle
The assignment covers the integrity and reliability of subsea pipelines and risers, as well as maintenance planning and technical studies for decommissioning projects. RINA will also assess options for extending the operating life of offshore assets and examine intervention scenarios across the lifecycle of subsea systems.
The scope includes FMEA and FMECA reliability studies, RAM analyses, asset life-extension evaluations and technical work for subsea decommissioning. These activities are designed to support decisions on continuing operations at active facilities while preparing intervention plans for infrastructure nearing the end of its operating life.
RINA said the project can mobilize up to 83 engineers and specialized technicians, including approximately 45 specialists already employed by the company. The workforce may expand during the three-year period as project requirements develop. RINA's LATAM Executive Commercial Management Director Marcell Chiarelli said the partnership would provide specialized assessments for safe lifecycle decisions on subsea systems.
Limited Direct Earnings Effect
For Petrobras, the contract relates primarily to offshore asset integrity and lifecycle management rather than a disclosed production increase or financial target. Its direct earnings contribution was not specified, so the immediate relevance for investors is the support of maintenance, operating-life and decommissioning decisions across the offshore portfolio.
