- Pfizer is expected to publish third-quarter results before the market opens on Tuesday, November 3.
- Newer medicines and obesity research must offset continued pressure on Paxlovid and Comirnaty.
- Management's full-year outlook includes revenue of USD 60.5 billion to USD 62.5 billion and adjusted EPS of USD 2.80 to USD 3.00.
Pfizer is heading into its third-quarter report with Wall Street expecting a softer quarter and investors looking for evidence that newer medicines can replace declining pandemic revenue. The company is expected to release results before the market opens on Tuesday, November 3, according to 24/7 Wall St.
Pfizer stock traded at 27.16 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 13:07 CET on Monday, November 2, 2026. Investors can follow the real-time quote of Pfizer stock.
A lower bar for the quarter
The consensus cited by 24/7 Wall St. calls for normalized third-quarter earnings of USD 0.728 per share, down from USD 0.87 a year earlier. Revenue expectations stand at USD 15.88 billion, compared with USD 16.65 billion in the prior-year quarter. The estimates imply that the report will be judged against a lower earnings bar, but not against a growth target.
The comparison with Pfizer's second quarter is more constructive. Adjusted earnings reached USD 0.77 per share against consensus of USD 0.6822, while revenue came in at USD 15.03 billion versus an estimate of USD 14.39 billion. Launched and acquired products grew 18 percent operationally, but Paxlovid revenue fell 95 percent and Comirnaty revenue declined 34 percent.
Pipeline progress meets revenue pressure
The portfolio transition remains central to the investment case. Eliquis revenue rose 21 percent to USD 2.43 billion in the second quarter, and Padcev increased 23 percent after an expansion in muscle-invasive bladder cancer. Those products need to keep expanding while COVID-related sales and older products face pressure.
Pfizer's obesity program is another long-term focus. The berobenatide VESPER-3 study delivered placebo-corrected weight loss of up to 12.3 percent, and Pfizer plans 10 Phase III studies in 2026. The company is targeting a first approval in 2028, leaving investors focused on trial timing and the path toward an amylin combination.
The near-term report also carries a cost impact. A roughly USD 0.10 charge tied to the Innovent transaction is expected to weigh on adjusted third-quarter earnings. A separate impairment previously pushed the second quarter to a GAAP net loss of USD 248 million, highlighting why investors will distinguish reported results from adjusted performance.
Guidance remains the key anchor
Management's current full-year outlook calls for revenue of USD 60.5 billion to USD 62.5 billion and adjusted earnings of USD 2.80 to USD 3.00 per share. Pfizer also aims for USD 9.7 billion in total net savings through 2029. The November report should show whether cost control and newer products are absorbing the decline in pandemic medicines without requiring another reduction in the outlook.
For investors, the central question extends beyond a single quarterly beat or miss. Pfizer faces loss-of-exclusivity pressure through 2028 and expects a return to growth from 2029, so the durability of non-COVID expansion and the pace of pipeline development matter more than one isolated estimate.
The S&P 500 market reports provide the broader backdrop for large-cap pharmaceutical shares.
