Philip Morris stock: IQOS-linked rollout broadens in Japan

- Philip Morris Japan is broadening a limited bonds by IQOS launch beyond its initial regional test.
- The rollout supports PMI's wider smoke-free product strategy in a key Asian market.
Philip Morris Japan will expand the limited sale of its bonds by IQOS heated-tobacco device and matching blends tobacco sticks from Monday, November 9. The company says the rollout will cover 17 prefectures, compared with the initial launch in Fukuoka, Saga and Nagasaki in July. The Philip Morris Japan release also identifies four blends tobacco-stick varieties for the device.
Smoke-free expansion in Japan
The announcement extends PMI's smoke-free product footprint in Japan rather than marking a new group earnings date. The bonds device uses a heating technology that does not burn tobacco, while the dedicated blends sticks are sold in four varieties. PMI says the products are intended for adult smokers and forms part of its effort to build a smoke-free future.
For investors, the immediate significance is the broader regional distribution of a product that had previously been available on a limited basis. The company also plans to begin online-store sales on November 18 for residents of eligible regions, creating a further commercial step after the November 9 expansion.
The real-time quote of Philip Morris stock was 177.58 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 17:39 CET on Sunday, November 8, 2026.
