Q3 Orders Support Philips Outlook

  • Comparable order intake rose 8 percent in the third quarter, led by Diagnosis & Treatment.
  • Philips kept its 2026 sales, margin and free-cash-flow targets unchanged.
  • A EUR 288 million Respironics provision weighed on reported earnings and is linked to an expected 2027 settlement payment.

Philips reported stronger third-quarter demand and margin expansion on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, while maintaining its full-year targets. In its third-quarter results release, the company said comparable order intake increased 8 percent and comparable sales rose 3 percent.

Demand and margins improve

Group sales reached EUR 4.4 billion. The adjusted EBITA margin expanded 70 basis points to 13.0 percent, supported by higher sales, gross-margin improvement and productivity measures. Operating cash flow rose to EUR 544 million, while free cash flow reached EUR 384 million.

Personal Health recorded 8 percent comparable sales growth, and Connected Care grew 5 percent. Diagnosis & Treatment sales were flat, although order intake in the segment provided the main boost to group demand. Philips said it remains on track to deliver EUR 1.5 billion in savings under its 2026-2028 productivity program.

Legal costs remain a risk

Philips recorded a EUR 288 million provision after Philips Respironics reached an agreement in principle with the US Department of Justice over previously disclosed investigations linked to the recall. Payment is expected in the first quarter of 2027, subject to final documentation. Other Respironics-related proceedings remain outside the agreement.

The legal charge limits the conversion of operational progress into reported earnings. For investors, the next test is whether stronger orders translate into sales and cash generation while Philips continues to manage its legal exposure.

Outlook stays unchanged

Management reiterated its 2026 outlook for comparable sales growth of 3 to 4.5 percent, an adjusted EBITA margin of 13.5 to 14.0 percent and free cash flow of EUR 1.5 to 1.7 billion. The margin range includes an expected benefit of about 1 percentage point from US tariff refunds, while the cash-flow target includes a net benefit of about EUR 200 million.
