Prosus is sharpening its investment focus in India, where the technology investor wants to add more platform and marketplace businesses across financial services and consumer markets. Ashutosh Sharma, Prosus's India head, outlined the strategy in an interview with Mint reported by TradingView on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

Prosus recently invested 100 million US dollars in Navi, an Indian fintech platform founded by Flipkart co-founder Sachin Bansal. The Competition Commission of India approved the investment last week, giving Prosus an 8.5 percent stake. The deal is an entirely primary investment and values Navi at more than 13,000 crore rupees.

A consumer fintech gap closes

Sharma said the transaction fills a gap in Prosus's portfolio. PayU, which Prosus owns outright, is focused largely on business-to-business payments and credit, while Navi serves consumers through a single platform spanning UPI payments, credit, insurance and broking.

Navi's operating revenue rose 16.2 percent year on year to 2,981.7 crore rupees in the financial year ended March 31, 2026, according to Tracxn data cited in the report. The company recorded a consolidated net loss of 466 crore rupees, compared with a loss of 126.4 crore rupees in the prior financial year. Navi Finserv, its lending arm, had assets under management of 13,138 crore rupees in fiscal 2026 and had increased that figure to more than 23,440 crore rupees by the middle of this year.

For Prosus, the strategic appeal lies in Navi's multi-product model rather than a single financial service. Sharma described the business as a platform with exposure to payments, lending, insurance and brokerage, giving the investor a broader route into India's consumer economy.

Portfolio approach favors platforms

Prosus said it prefers companies that operate as platforms or marketplaces. The group cited investments or holdings including Swiggy, Meesho, Rapido, Urban Company and Ixigo as examples of that approach, alongside PayU and Navi in financial services.

The company is also prepared to hold concentrated positions for an extended period. Sharma pointed to Rapido as one example: Prosus first invested 180 million US dollars in the mobility platform in April 2022, when it was valued at 1.1 billion US dollars. A later transaction involving Swiggy's stake valued Rapido at between 2.5 billion and 2.7 billion US dollars, representing nearly 2.5 times the initial investment in just over three years.

Prosus stock traded at 34.66 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 11:44:40 CET on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

Investors will assess whether the India strategy can turn portfolio expansion into stronger earnings while Prosus continues to commit capital to businesses at different stages of development. Several late-stage holdings, including Rapido, Vastu Finance, PayU and Navi, could potentially seek public listings as they scale, although Sharma said the timing would be decided by the companies.

The broader Dutch market is covered in the AEX market overview.
