Reliance Industries reported a strong second quarter for fiscal 2027 on Friday, October 30, with higher revenue, record EBITDA and continued growth at Jio Platforms. The Financial Express reported that consolidated net profit rose 40.64 percent year on year to INR 25,548 crore, while gross revenue increased 27.8 percent to INR 362,268 crore.

Consolidated EBITDA climbed 23.9 percent year on year to INR 62,409 crore, the highest quarterly level reported by the company, according to Financial Express. The EBITDA margin nevertheless narrowed to 17.2 percent from 17.8 percent in the year-earlier quarter.

The oil-to-chemicals business was the main earnings driver. Stronger fuel cracks and improved downstream chemical margins supported the segment, while the company continued to operate against a volatile commodity and geopolitical backdrop.

Jio listing adds a new focus

Jio Platforms reported quarterly revenue of INR 40,500 crore, up from INR 36,330 crore a year earlier. Its consolidated net profit increased 12.73 percent to INR 8,339 crore. Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani said the newly listed business had become India's second-largest company by market value after a more than 22-times subscribed offering.

Reliance Retail Ventures increased revenue 6.4 percent to INR 91,716 crore, but EBITDA fell 8.6 percent to INR 6,228 crore. The company attributed the pressure to planned investment in digital commerce, absorbed input-cost inflation and the shift of the festive calendar into the third quarter.
