- Third-quarter adjusted net income rose to 2.708 billion euros from 752 million euros a year earlier.
- Repsol lifted 2026 operating cash flow guidance to 9.0 billion to 9.5 billion euros.
- The new buyback could lift total 2026 shareholder distributions to about 3 billion euros.
Repsol stock traded at 30.65 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 11:42 CET on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, 2.27 percent above the Xetra close of Monday, November 2. The move follows the Spanish energy group’s strong third-quarter results, a higher cash flow outlook and a new share buyback.
Repsol reported the results on Thursday, October 29. According to the company’s Q3 results release, adjusted net income reached 2.708 billion euros in the quarter, compared with 752 million euros in the same period of 2025. Net income rose to 2.805 billion euros from 574 million euros.
Refining drives quarterly earnings
The Industrial division provided the largest contribution, with adjusted net income of 1.985 billion euros, up from 305 million euros a year earlier. Repsol attributed the improvement mainly to stronger refining margins in Spain, better results in Repsol Peru and higher contributions from trading and wholesale gas activities.
The Spanish refining margin indicator reached 36.2 US dollars per barrel in the third quarter, compared with 8.8 US dollars a year earlier and 14.0 US dollars in the second quarter. The Upstream division also improved, with adjusted net income rising to 415 million euros from 215 million euros, while total production increased to 574,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day from 551,000.
Reuters reported that adjusted profit exceeded the company-compiled analyst consensus of 2.63 billion euros. The result also compared with adjusted net profit of 752 million euros in the third quarter of 2025.
Cash generation lifts shareholder returns
Cash flow from operations reached 3.526 billion euros in the quarter, up from 1.267 billion euros a year earlier. For the first nine months, operating cash flow rose to 6.503 billion euros from 3.853 billion euros. Net debt fell to 2.038 billion euros at the end of September, while gearing declined to 6.2 percent from 11.3 percent at the end of June.
Repsol announced a third share buyback program of up to 950 million euros for execution during 2026. The program follows 850 million euros of buybacks already completed, taking planned full-year buybacks to 1.8 billion euros. Including cash dividends of 1.2 billion euros, total shareholder remuneration is expected to reach about 3 billion euros.
Management also raised its 2026 operating cash flow guidance to 9.0 billion to 9.5 billion euros, compared with previous guidance of up to 6.0 billion euros. The payout framework remains focused on returning 30 percent to 40 percent of operating cash flow to shareholders through 2028.
For investors, the stronger quarter improves near-term cash generation and supports the expanded capital return plan. The main execution issues are the completion of the new buyback, the sustainability of unusually strong refining margins and cash flow delivery through the fourth quarter.
