Saab signed a contract with France's Naval Group on Friday, November 6, to deliver and integrate weapon control systems and sensors for four Swedish FDI frigates. The contract covers Sweden's future naval capability and extends Saab's role across combat systems, missiles, torpedoes and radar.
According to Saab, the order is worth approximately SEK 2 billion. Deliveries to Naval Group are scheduled from 2027 through 2034. The package includes the Weapon Control System, Ceros and EOS 500 fire-control directors, RBS15 anti-ship missiles, Saab Lightweight Torpedo, Trackfire and Sea Giraffe 1X radar.
Broader naval portfolio takes shape
The contract followed Saab's November 2 presentation of the Combat Boat 90 CX. The optionally crewed platform is designed for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, anti-ship warfare and short-range air defence. The launch broadens Saab's naval offering beyond large combat-system programmes.
Saab's latest quarterly report provides the broader operating backdrop. For January through September 2026, the company reported strong organic sales growth, higher operating profit and increased operational cash flow. The report also highlighted large Gripen, GlobalEye and German frigate orders, reinforcing the importance of defence demand to Saab's order cycle.
