Safran is expanding its Malaysian carbon-brake network as demand from Asia-Pacific airlines supports a larger manufacturing and maintenance footprint. The development adds a new operating detail to the company's recent Malaysia expansion story: Bernama reported on October 28 that the Sendayan facility accounts for 27 percent of Safran's global carbon-brake disc production.

Malaysia adds production and service capacity

Safran inaugurated the expanded Sendayan manufacturing and heat-sink refurbishment facility and a new carbon-brake maintenance, repair and overhaul center in Nilai on October 28. The Sendayan project adds 7,000 square meters of manufacturing space, while the Nilai center provides a nearby service base close to Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

The investment is aimed at supporting about 100 airline operators across Asia-Pacific. The facilities cover fleets that include Airbus A320, A321 and A350 aircraft, Boeing 737, 777 and 787 aircraft, and ATR aircraft. Safran plans to double Sendayan's carbon-brake disc production capacity by 2028.

Operating reach matters for investors

The Malaysian footprint combines new component production with aftermarket services, giving Safran a broader regional platform across the aircraft life cycle. Bernama also reported that the site employs more than 157 highly skilled workers and uses a circular manufacturing model that remanufactures used discs where possible.

The real-time quote of Safran stock was 274.85 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 17:03 CEST on Friday, October 30, 2026.
