Safran is expanding its industrial footprint in Malaysia after inaugurating an enlarged carbon-brake facility in Sendayan and a new maintenance, repair and overhaul center in Nilai on October 28, 2026. The details were reported by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority.
Capacity investment targets Asia-Pacific demand
The Sendayan expansion represents 134 million euros and adds 7,000 square meters of manufacturing space, including a new textile line, carbonization furnaces and machining equipment. Safran Landing Systems expects the site to double its carbon-brake disc production capacity by 2028.
A separate 2 million euro MRO center in Nilai adds 1,000 square meters of service capacity near Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Together, the facilities are intended to support the needs of about 100 airline operators across Asia-Pacific, including fleets built around Airbus, Boeing and ATR aircraft.
The project is an operating development rather than a new group-wide earnings forecast. It extends Safran's manufacturing and aftermarket network, while the company plans to increase its Malaysian workforce to 220 employees by 2030 across production and MRO operations. The Sendayan site currently employs 160 people.
Quote moves above prior report level
Lang & Schwarz quoted Safran at 281.90 euros on October 29, 2026, at 16:45:03 Berlin time. That was 3.17 percent above the 273.25-euro quote recorded in the previous Ad Hoc News report at 10:46 Berlin time. The comparison is separate from a Xetra daily close and should not be read as a causal reaction to the Malaysia announcement.
Safran's latest quarterly update had already shown continued expansion across propulsion, equipment and defense. In its October 23 release, the company reported adjusted third-quarter revenue of 9,003 million euros and maintained its 2026 outlook, according to Les Echos. The Malaysian expansion adds a further capacity and service-network datapoint for investors.
