Erste Bank Polska reported net profit of PLN 3.691 billion for the first nine months of 2026 at its October 30 earnings call, while third-quarter profit reached PLN 1.490 billion. The bank presented the results under its Erste brand after completing its rebranding in April. The figures and management comments were published in the Yahoo Finance earnings call transcript.
Revenue and balance-sheet expansion remained the main operating themes. Net interest income totaled PLN 9.468 billion in the first three quarters, including PLN 3.3 billion in the third quarter. Third-quarter net interest income increased 6.5 percent from the previous quarter and 3 percent from the same period a year earlier, despite lower interest rates.
Loans And Deposits Expand
Customer deposits reached PLN 252 billion at the end of September, up 14 percent year on year. Customer funds rose 15 percent to PLN 287 billion, while gross loans increased 11 percent to PLN 183 billion. Total assets grew 4 percent to PLN 340 billion.
The bank added 481,000 customers during the first nine months and served 6.2 million customers overall, including 4.2 million digital customers. Cash-loan originations totaled PLN 12.1 billion, with PLN 4 billion generated in the third quarter alone, up 20 percent year on year. New mortgage originations amounted to PLN 11.7 billion.
Management also highlighted the small and medium-sized enterprise business. The segment had 657,000 customers, up 17 percent year on year, while loan volumes reached PLN 4.8 billion, an increase of 22 percent. A promotional campaign cost PLN 129 million in the third quarter, and executives said the campaign should support longer-term customer and profit growth.
Costs Remain In Focus
Operating costs rose as the bank funded rebranding, integration and higher contributions to the Bank Guarantee Fund. Rebranding costs totaled PLN 226 million after nine months, including PLN 51 million in the third quarter. Integration costs reached PLN 158 million over the same period. Management said total 2026 spending on rebranding and integration should be PLN 16 million below budget, although that amount will shift into 2027.
The cost-to-income ratio was 36.1 percent after nine months, or 29.3 percent excluding integration, rebranding and Bank Guarantee Fund costs. The non-performing-loan ratio improved to 3.4 percent, while the average cost of risk was 30 basis points.
For 2027, management expects continued loan growth, although it described the pace as potentially high single digit or double digit. Executives also gave a 30-40 basis-point cost-of-risk range for the next quarter and 2027, subject to the macroeconomic backdrop. The bank intends to keep investing in digital processes and its SME franchise.
