Skydance has entered the operating phase of its combination with Warner Bros. Discovery after the transaction closed on October 6, 2026. In its investor release, the company said the deal created a combined business named Skydance, bringing together two film studios, two streaming services and television, news and sports assets.
The release said the transaction followed all required regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions. Warner Bros. Discovery shareholders received USD 31.01666668 in cash per share, while Skydance Class B shares began trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the new company structure.
Integration sets the investment case
Skydance is targeting more than USD 6 billion in run-rate synergies over three years. The company said savings are expected to come primarily from technology, integration and procurement, marketing and real-estate rationalization. It also said the strategy is intended to support a reduction in net leverage toward 3.0 times by the end of 2029.
Management presented the enlarged content portfolio as the foundation for growth. Skydance said the combined group reaches more than 200 countries and territories, plans at least 30 theatrical films annually and has more than 180 television shows. The company also expects its streaming products to move toward a single service over time.
Those targets create a demanding execution test. Investors must weigh the potential scale benefits of the merger against the complexity of combining platforms, studios and networks. The company's own release cautioned that integration, synergy and leverage targets may take longer than expected or may not be achieved.
