Solvay is entering a key reporting week with a new point for investors to monitor: the company says its joint-venture framework for the Sadara complex includes mechanisms designed to recover lost profitability after the shutdown of a peroxide plant in Saudi Arabia.
Solvay disclosed the recovery mechanism in its October 19 press release. The company said it is exploring all available avenues to mitigate the financial impact of the shutdown. The Jubail operations are conducted through a joint venture with Sadara, which is majority-owned by Saudi Aramco.
November results set the next test
Complete third-quarter results are scheduled for Wednesday, November 4. The release will replace the preliminary quarter figures with the completed closing process and should give investors a fuller view of divisional performance, cash generation and the condition of the Saudi operations.
In the preliminary update, Solvay reported underlying third-quarter net sales of EUR 1.03 billion, underlying EBITDA of EUR 173 million and free cash flow to shareholders from continuing operations of EUR 54 million. The Middle East conflict reduced underlying EBITDA by approximately EUR 25 million during the quarter, with the Sadara peroxide-plant shutdown accounting for close to EUR 15 million.
Solvay lowered its 2026 underlying EBITDA guidance to EUR 720 million to EUR 740 million and expects free cash flow from continuing operations of EUR 120 million to EUR 150 million, net of approximately EUR 90 million in transformation expenses. The outlook excludes potential revenue or recovery measures from Sadara for the remainder of 2026.
